1 2 WATCH: Casper the Ghost

THE PIT'S ONE TO WATCH.jpg

The next artist to grace our 1 2 WATCH series is Brighton’s finest Casper the Ghost, who recently dropped her sophomore single ‘Brown Eyed Girl’.

An artist who manages to find beauty in the dingy and desolate, Casper’s ethereal vocals pierce through subtle instrumentals influenced by trip hop, electronica and lo-fi, with her serenity offering solitude through the dark, damp soundscapes. Her new song is only her second official release, following on from 2020’s sincere and musing single ‘Text Me Twice’ which featured Bobbie Johnson

A song perfect for dark corners and late night musings, on ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ Casper illustrates introspection and brevity in her songwriting, wandering through the wistful narrative as if a colourful entity floating through a greying sky. Casper’s eerily beautiful tone gazes deep into your soul, inviting you into her ghostly world.

Commenting on the track, Casper says:

This track is a mix of things because when I started writing it, it was gonna be some soppy love song. But things changed, so I started making it about liking someone you know you shouldn’t.

With her ability to capture an atmosphere like few others, Casper looks set to kick on with the Brighton and alternative scenes. it’s not difficult to see why she is 1 2 Watch
