Aston Db5

Opening with the most familiar trademark you never fucking heard, the quiet storm and unknown force that is Hackney’s last true patron, Henny Knightz, presents Aston Db5

Before we delve any further, it is essential that you in no way attempt to evaluate the following work without headphones. The wealth of production present simply cannot be experienced through average means. This music is gourmet, couture, pick your metaphor, just make sure it implies impeccably tailored art dredged from a furious flurry of fists inflicting experiences so cutting that the fact they can even be relayed musically is a minor miracle.

This review presents more than a mere release analysis. I have taken the opportunity to write it because I am dumbfounded by this prodigious talent, who works quietly in his room amidst the crumbling chaos that raised him. Living as an alternative human being in every sense of the word, Henny Knightz exists as a completely self created entity, managing to internalize the shattering of all necessary illusion and from those falling shards produce kick hits so rounded, sparse hats placed so meticulously within samples affected to such a degree that the ‘samples’ simply become his own.

His 10 year ascension has seen him consistently soundtrack and visually interpret the emotional evolution necessary to create a true artist. Whilst others bask in the fluorescence of entitlement and delusion, Henny emits a phosphorescent glow, with an ineffable flow that can claim no influence other than an unaffected character. What others may fail to see but what I refuse to allow you to ignore is that Aston Db5 is the most forthright statement the artist has ever made regarding an existence where he has more than met all the necessary requirements of being a true artist, yet continues to be overlooked by an audience too shallow to swallow.
