BAD TEMPER

No hook, just bars over the kind of icy piano chop that takes you straight to New York.

‘Bad Temper’ is SPRTYK’s manifesto, she’s here to take over the game, but on her own terms. Her confidence is electric. She’s bringing the energy and she demands the listener’s attention and their accountability.  “I don’t mind being a leader/but you can’t sit up at this table empty-handed either”. SPRTYK is talking, you have to listen. If you don’t know, now you know.

And don’t you dare put her in a box.

They say I’m too vulgar/they say I’m too street, they try to turn me Nicki, I’m going full Meek

The track’s tight production and clean video hint that she works with some big players. Her publishing company STARCLUB ENTERTAINMENT has done creative direction and styling for A$AP Ferg and Privilege New York among others in the city’s underground scene -  a hint that she won’t be underground for long.

But SPRTYK is in her own lane, seeking longevity through hard work, rather than nepotism. “Fuck a handout/ my two feet stand proudly...need money not the clouty’. Hip hop history references are woven through the production, the lyrics and the visual - a play on a classic basketball theme. They acknowledge hip hop culture’s significance in terms of influence but avoid cliche - it’s SPRTYK’s singular voice carrying us through. In ‘Bad Temper’ we see her standing alone in front of the crowd, the pressure builds.

She shoots, she scores.
