Missing Me

South London duo fika join forces with producer Fabich on the immersive, sophisticated and meticulously crafted ‘Missing Me’. Using the influence of soul, jazz and R&B, fika assert their own unique style on a generic niche that is growing ever more popular, following in the footsteps of artists such as Frank Ocean and Tom Misch. Pairing with exciting, up and coming German producer Fabich, on ‘Missing Me’ the talented double act merges textured instruments, sumptuous vocals and smooth, dynamic production to create a blissful sonic landscape.

In the mellow, byzantine instrumental, the layered guitar fills stand out. With a refreshing variety of differing melodic ideas, they usually sit back in the mix, observing the core of the beat and sprinkling in intricacies from time to time. There is a variety of accomplished musical ideas generally, from the soft synth pad, to gorgeous vocal harmonies and effective rhythm sections. The production is impressive - serene but nimble, the mix is overflowing with colour and vibrancy. The lyricism is measured and provoking, offering an observant perceptive on love and distance, while the vocal tonality and delivery is sensual and ethereal.

Luxurious, catchy and musically adept, with superb production, this is a track full of intent from the quickly rising fika. Their debut EP, co-produced by Fabich, is coming out this summer, and the future looks bright for fika.
