17

Super-smooth South West London spitter Danny Sanchez drops nostalgic single 17, produced by IGLU.

The 24-year old really needs no introduction here; his collection of suave singles has featured heavily on The Pit since his artistic birth, and this one was not going to be missed.

The combination of softly-spoken simple lexis and Hispanic infused vocals does make Danny a really listenable artist. Once more, the fact that every track is self-released, every video either self or co-directed and every producer or feature a friend or similar creative, makes supporting his journey so appealing.

IGLU, whom appeared on my radar after a great Finn Foxell single that dropped in 2020, manages to keep Danny’s vocals at the forefront, whilst the beat patiently picks up and slows down with a little help from a croaking frog.

Still, there is no formal album to push for Danny. The singles are so relatable I can’t imagine I am the only person looking for a full Danny Sanchez show, but as 17 addresses the passion can waiver once it becomes expected and so we should just enjoy the output as is.
