Badland

simon a. comes through with a new groove in his irresistible ‘Badland’. The Walthamstow native single-handedly wrote and produced the track, taking on all aspects of his artistic output.

As his previous EP Way to Go was premiered by the mighty COLORS, and was backed by the likes of Clash and Modèle, big things are surely to come in simon a.’s next project. ‘Badland’ gives fans their first taste of the upcoming EP, folding R&B and soul into the mix with East London’s own Frank Ocean.

Explaining the backstory of the song, simon a. says:

‘Badland’ is about how easy it can be to fall into the trappings of online personas, both as a poster and as a consumer. It’s a groovy song told from the perspective of an influencer in three separate stages of their influencer career.

So, as you may already know, social media clout isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. According to simon a., the pressures can lead you to get lost.

For a voice that effortlessly climbs and falls - and a refrain that echoes Matty Healy’s “She’s got a boyfriend anyway” - venture into ‘Badland’.
