Congratulations

Brighton’s feel-good sound machines are back and better than ever *if that could even be possible*, returning with an absolutely gorgeous rhythm commemorating the abundance of blessings surrounding the pairing in this present moment with their consoling number, ‘Congratulations’.

Now if you somehow haven’t listened to these boys before; first off let me say you lot have been missing out for real, and secondly they’re probably about to take the top spots of your playlists as of now… you’re welcome. These two are possibly one of the most loved talents in the UK right now, and honestly you can’t even question it - with the laid back, well-mannered aura these geezers posses there’s no surprise to why every single show on their upcoming tour is sold-out right now *cries* - oh and of course they don’t miss when it comes to the riddims either - I mean name me a FS&HG song that doesn’t slap, I’ll wait.

Anyways less of my admiration for these two, ‘Congratulations’ comes after the pairs highly-anticipated album release ‘Handle With Care’, coming during a time I feel we’d finally managed to process all of the chaos within this past year, and this project managed to reflect the many highs-and-lows we had all faced as a collective during those daunting times — bringing a true pick-me-up to many of their listeners after a downer of a year.

Just like ‘Handle With Care’, ‘Congratulations’ sees the two doing what they know best, reflecting upon the lights in life; as Frankie shines a beam of appreciation for the ascending success the two are garnering; having just signed to NQ, the sold-out dates *gunna voice* and of course getting to the bag. However, if you’re familiar with Frankie’s writing style, you’ll know introspection is nothing new to the wordsmith, and like any other, this one’s filled to the brim with reflection; ’I’m always overthinking, these things that’s in my dome/tryna heal know it’s hard/don’t want them to feel like I did, don’t want them to feel this lost’.

Now ‘this one here, shouts to Harv’ because sonically this piece is an absolute banger! Mr Gunn has only gone and brought us yet another goosebump inducing instrumental sure to pop off at any function - with that initial ethereal chord progression easing us into the two-stepping rave-worthy percussion, all alongside Frankie’s iconic voice - this ones set to hit you deep in the core.

Wrapping this one up, FS&GH put the cherry on top linking up with the absolute g Rosie Matheson; the genius behind the iconic portraiture series ‘Boys’. In this visual-stunner, Rosie takes Frankie on a string of activities as the sun shines in all it’s glory; from the greens of the golf course practicing that swing, to the heavy-bags, throwing a few combos alongside coach Harv, and even taking to the coast; showcasing Frankie doing up Mr. Hollywood jet-skiing across the water. The perfect pairing for that feel-good sound.

This past year has been a rollercoaster for these two like many in the industry, with the unpredictability of show cancellations and much more - so hearing this one was pleasant, seeing the two speak in confidence about the successes they’ve garnered and what’s to come in the near future both musically and personally. Once again can only wish the best of luck to these lot, so make sure you take in that new one and if you happen to see any tour tickets flying about for a Bristol show shout me!
