Enny - Daily Duppy

Thamesmead’s flourishing pen-smith Enny, brings us our latest instalment of GRM’s Daily Duppy series, filled to the brim with contemplative rhymes wrapped up with an empowering presentation.

In the same foot-steps of offerings that have come before, Enny graces us with a number infused with nothing but thought-provoking material, seeing the 26 year-old take us down a journey unravelling society’s seemingly unbreakable cycle of wrong-doings with the fingers pointing in our generations own direction. Emphasising our era’s toxic obsession with materialism (‘I hope those red bottoms support you when you hit rock-bottom’) that drives our youth into the heaviest-weights of financial debt all for the acknowledgment of others - as well as touching upon the ever growing unbreakable chain of sexual harassment within a ‘progressive generation’ that still insinuates to ‘wear a short skirt = rape’.

Another riddim, another banger coming from South-East’s gripping breath-of-fresh-air, that’s not only empowering young women of colour to step into their unapologetic self-worth, but also bringing many young people, men in particular, to the realisation of their mistreatment towards women.

Enny is way more than just a rapper, engaging further than any before with her fiery delivery, that sits so well with the mind-sticking subject matter she spits - and with the help of Daily Duppy’s animation in this one, you’re sure to be glued to the screen all the way through.
