gentle
Venus Anon has returned with “gentle”, a new single exploring restraint, anger, and the conscious choice of peace over violence. Released on 13 May, the track offers another glimpse into her forthcoming debut album, due in 2027.
Written during a three-month cabin stay where the artist began shaping the album, “gentle” emerged through experimentation with guitar tunings and a reworked melody from an older song. What started as a playful creative exercise became something more emotionally charged beneath the surface.
Speaking on the track, Venus Anon said: “I’m a very angry person deep inside, but I choose peace every day. ‘gentle’ is about how violence can feel tempting, and choosing softness anyway.”
The release follows her acclaimed EP Catharsis and this year’s ambient companion project cathy, quietly, both of which helped establish her as one of the most compelling voices in the Nordic alternative scene. Her music has earned support from DAZED, COLORS and The Needle Drop.
Later this year, Venus Anon will continue releasing new music alongside selected live dates in Copenhagen, Berlin and Stockholm, as well as an activation during Berlin Fashion Week.
