Hello World

Downtown Kayoto bursts back onto the scene with the genre-fluid, affecting and cinematic ‘Hello World’.

The Zimbabwe born, Hull raised singer has been quiet for a while now, having initially earned extensive praise from tastemakers, gaining co-signs from the likes of Zane Lowe and Nick Grimshaw, as well as being chosen as Radio 1’s Future Artist. A stark change from his most recent offering ‘ROX’, a summery R&B banger, Downtown opts for a murky, atmospheric approach for his comeback single.

As influenced by drum and bass as it is by R&B, ‘Hello World’ builds and falls beautifully, with vibrant production and compelling musical phrasing. Introspective guitar, eerie synths and deeply reverbed vocals suck the listener into the electrifying palette, before we are rewarded with a silky DnB drop that will excited rave and R&B heads alike. The track has been released with colourful and adventurous visuals directed by Louis Lincoln-Bottcher.

Speaking on the new cut, Downtown said:

It’s a phrase typed into a new computer program to initiate, before more code is written. It symbolises me placing my flag down into the ground and marking a new starting point both from an artistic and a visual standpoint.

Bold, breathtaking and provocative, ‘Hello World’ marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the titillating and versatile talent.
