I Don't Mind

Often, we find that we hurt the people we love the most, sometimes knowingly. Essex rapper Tommy B comes to that realisation in the soulful track I Don’t Mind.

Having been around since a teenager, Tommy B has shown his willingness to embrace new sounds and styles in order to test himself as an artist. He demonstrates his ability as an introspective lyricist on I Don’t Mind exploring the five stages of grief loss, frustration, regret, anger and finally acceptance.

He mourns the love lost with his ex-partner due to his own urge to protect her from his own self-inflicting actions and their consequences. Wishing her the best he raps “forever more I hope your fam are good I couldn’t make it work I hope you find a man that could.” But in lonely moments he laments “Sometimes I wish that you could hold me tight. The lyrics are darkened with a melancholic twinge that creates a sober air and Nathan Smokers’ soulful but equally haunting vocals move you as he delivers the hook of the track bridging the track together.

On the track, Tommy comments:

‘I Don’t Mind’ is a track I wrote when I was going through a break-up, it’s totally raw and vulnerable. Nathan Smoker’s vocals on the hook & Joe Garrett’s production brought the song to life & I believe this is probably the best song I have written”

The track is in anticipation of the Essex-born rapper’s debut album, Spiritual Hooligan, which is set to drop next year.
