inthemourning

Birmingham’s own angel Jaydonclover released her latest single inthemourning featuring another top Midlands export Kofi Stone.

Jaydonclover is a hopeless romantic that expresses different aspects of love in very in a very poetic and intelligent way that almost hypnotises listeners. This track features one of the best poets and musicians in the UK currently, working with the likes of Loyle Carner, Mr Jukes, Barney Artist, Lizzie Berchie, and Maverick Sabre. Kofi Stone is a fantastic lyricist as well as a fantastic character.

‘inthemourning’ is a heart-wrenching love story about two lovers who are parted by death. The ghost of the lover, perfectly narrated by Kofi Stone, shares his account on missing his true love mutually.

The intro of the track consists of a sample or recording of a different female singer which then fades as the instrumental is introduced. Jaydon then begins with the chorus and her smoother-than-melted-butter vocals before singing her verse. Once Kofi comes in with his words the image both artists create paints a vivid picture of the emotions and thoughts the story is conveying. Personally, the best part of the song (after the play-on-words with the title) is when the instrumental fades, listeners will hear Jaydon completely in the foreground ending with the vague sound of a morning alarm. Almost completely lost for words.
