Introvert

‘Introvert’ is the outspoken new single from MC and actress Little Simz. The inspiring, orchestra-backed tune marks the artist’s first release from her upcoming album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’, expected to drop this September through her own imprint, AGE 101.

The project follows her critically acclaimed 2019 LP Grey Area, and if this track is anything to go by, it’ll be another influential album from the Mercury Prize nominee.

Produced by her longtime collaborator Inflo, ‘Introvert’ is an expression of Simz’ own anxieties within the extroverted music industry machine. She raps, “One day I’m worthless, next day I’m a wordsmith / Close to success but to happiness I’m the furthest”.

Her internal struggles expand to broader social issues, as poignantly portrayed in the song’s video. The iconic National History Museum is Little Simz’ stage, where she cements herself in history through bars and dance. Both visually and vocally we are reminded how the fight for the proper representation of black narratives in ‘national history and politics’ continues.

A triumphant track, Cleo Sol lends her voice to the hook while Emma Corrin (of The Crown Fame) performs a spoken word segment in the song’s final leg, highlighting the journey of being a woman.

Despite her introverted nature, Little Simz’ music speaks the loudest.
