Kitchen

Off the back of the EP release ‘Mediumn’, GRAMN. release their latest single ‘Kitchen’. It comes complete with a video that is a genuine snapshot of the life lead by singer Aux and what could be called a collective of musicians and avant garde artists. The video features no less than 5 of East London’s rising multidisciplinary individuals living out loud in Aux’s kitchen, including king of UK Soul Jerome Thomas; understated but never overrated singer Morgan Lorelle; out on his own producer MadebyMagic; Avant garde painter and session singer lEVi; and notably West End performer Elliote Williams N’dure.

The iron in the blood of the project lies in the unspoiled vocal work and songwriting of Aux. Professing less than zero pretence, we have waited some time for the climate and gatekeepers to open up to such evolved emotional rawness. Managing to mix the colours of trauma and pain with snapshots of her internal psychedelic vision, Aux is a talent truly deserving of the esteem that comes with being a product of Hackney, contradicting and strengthening the uprising against the whitewashed East London we are currently choking on.

The track explains how the melting pot of circumstances and characters that cook up such exquisite low down music, all are struggling to come up for air out of the chaos that is inherent in the life of the true Hackney artist.

In a nutshell though, the track is a certified bop. It’s proudly Black, warm yet uncompromising and vocally un-matched in terms of originality and clarity. The hook is ridiculously strong and this single should propel GRAMN. to their rightful footing in the Contemporary R&B lane. ‘Kitchen’ is out now and released in anticipation of GRAMN.’s upcoming EP ‘Minimumn’ which drops on the 23rd of October.
