Lucious

Knucks new single Lucious sees the London rapper linking up with Kwengface, and continuing his reign over UK hip hop, with menacing flows, and villainous, drill influenced, scattered drums.

The track follows his LP ALPHA PLACE, one of the most successful, acclaimed UK rap records this year, and an incredible collision of UK drill and jazz rap, with highlights like Leon the Professional, and Die Hard featuring Stormzy. Knucks shows no sign of stopping anytime soon and is as consistent as ever on this new single.

The cover art shows a silhouette of Knucks amongst smoke and shadows, appearing like an almost Batman vigilante type figure, watching over the city - the title could be a reference to Lucius Fox, too, whilst lines like ‘I was on the roof like Bruce in Gotham’ seemingly confirm this.

In the video, we see Knucks leaving his house in white robes, with a cigar in hand, picking up a newspaper. Paparazzi watch him on his front doorstep as if he’s a Tony Soprano like figure, as he raps lines like “Stand-up guy you can trust me, mandem lying like jussie, catch me in lie you can cuff me”.

Knucks navigates his way around trouble, whilst casually sipping whisky, and opening Pulp Fiction inspired suitcases, also referencing The Dark Knight as he watches over multiple CCTV images. There’s plenty of room for quotables from the Kilburn emcee, as he spits “ain't dropped no music in years, I'll take mans spot like musical chairs.

Knucks and Kwengface sound just as threatening as one another with their intimidating raps - Kweng comes equipped with lethal lines like “look... if I bring this star to your hood, I can see the opp boys doing up strides” and “I got a distinctive voice so I can't say a word when I go on them glides”. His raps are sinister, but there’s ample time for amusing bars like “and your girls insides, yeah man’s filling it, them opp boy zoots man’s billing it”.

After a series of big festival dates, and unfortunately missing him at All Points East (we did however, luckily manage to catch Loyle Carner bring him out for an excellent performance at Parklife), we hope to see Knucks on tour with Kid Cudi soon.
