MAVI

Alt-R&B producer, singer, songwriter Chloe Bodur releases 5-track EP, ‘MAVI’. As she continues to establish herself as one of the leading voices within the UK Alt-R&B scene, ‘MAVI’ - which translates to ‘Blue’ in Turkish - showcases Chloe’s sonic palette at its fullest. The project was created as a form of therapy, with her intentions set on overcoming various internal battles which she has been working through since before the pandemic.

Chloe offers ultimate transparency throughout the EP, opening up with ‘I Tried’ which summarises the feeling of hopelessness, delivered through her blissful tones and meaningful penship. Drawing influence from confronting a friend, ‘Static Flow’ explores the contradicting sides of the 23-year-olds contrasting personalities across a down-tempo production from cousin and frequent collaborator JD. REID. Transitioning to the heart of the project, Chloe channels her sultry side on ‘Mine’ as she reflects on a meaningful friendship that has resulted in a bittersweet feeling. Never failing to impress and further highlighting her vocal range, ‘Away’ brings a stripped-back production strung together with Chloe’s multi-part harmonies. To close the project, Chloe offers introspectiveness in ‘Lately’ discussing her difficulties with mental health and the ongoing struggles of feeling as though she is not reaching her potential.

Feeling mavi (blue) is something I’ve silently struggled with over the past few years. Writing these 5 songs helped me work through it, communicate my feelings to those I needed help from, and worked as a type of therapy for me. If social media showcases the happy-highlights reel of my life then this 5-track project depicts the opposite and invites people into my alternate, bluer reality.

Born and raised in North-West London, Chloe’s inspiration is a fusion of her Sri-Lanken and Turkish parents, as well as her musical heroes Anita Baker, The Neptunes and an array of other 90’s/00’s R&B legends. With the hope of pushing cultural boundaries and subverting negative stereotypes, Chloe is an important figure in the new generation of artists, empowering a multifaceted skill set with a growing list of production and songwriting credits to her name.

Refining her live performance ahead of her forthcoming tour, Chloe recently joined NAYANA IZ and Jerome Thomas for Jamz Supernova’s Ones to Watch showcase. With no sign of slowing down, Chloe is ready to cement her name in the scene ahead of her plans for 2022.
