May Sun

An intricate decomposition of rhythm with little room for convention. Febueder are an England-based ‘avant-indie’ duo consisting of lead vocalist/multi-instrumental maestro Kieran Godfrey and percussionist Samuel Keysell. Having performed a COLORS show and releasing their ground-breaking 2020 album ‘Tomalin Has Etched In’, they are rapidly picking up speed.

Their sound is immensely expansive with textural walls of sound and glistening percussive elements decorated through their tracks. Their new single ‘May Sun’ begins with beckoning strings and disjointed organ sounds. Kieran’s wispy vocals glue the track together to form a concentrated cacophony that just works. As Kieran cries for his ‘may sun’, the track subtly begins to develop, beautifully clashing layers of metallic instruments and strings that reflect his desperate vocal tone.

The unsettling edge of production used in this track adds to the element of mystery and anticipation that is unavoidable as you listen with a sense of the walls gradually closing in on you in a truly invigorating way. This is a malevolently hypnotic track that somehow delivers an unexpected feeling of home.
