Mirinda

Unshakeable rapper Dips and meticulous producer Lo-Wu present their 5th collaboration ‘Mirinda’ a poetic ode to the emotional elements of the ends.

As Dips & Lo-Wu develop their autobiographical catalogue, each new release provides an even more memorable hook. Dips’ insatiable lilt purring ‘Chicken and...Chips’ is nothing less than genius and combined with Lo-Wu’s alluring jazz-tinged garage, it is impossible not to feel admiration for the game-changing sonic wisdom that this producer brings to this godless age.

‘Mirinda’ takes a 4 chord theme, and gently filters it to evade sonic monotony. The chords themselves are effortlessly sophisticated but the bassline is what really fucked me up. Taking Mirinda in headphones is a whole next experience and I realised the bassline isn’t just emulating the root note of the chords, but adding a harmony - one of my personal favourite musical moves. Combining this with Dips, a rapper who has such an enlightened nature to his voice not to mention his bars that if you don’t listen carefully to the words you’ll be lulled into a false sense of calm.

Though my list of regrets stretch a mile,
I’m in denial,
more like the Nile

The future is set for this duo, their current output more than exhibits their potential and the lightness of being that they gift us is impossible not to love.
‘Mirinda’ is out now on all platforms, run it up!
