MONSOON

Filmmaker, singer and rapper Wesley Joseph releases his first single this year since his debut album release. MONSOON is a soulful number with features of synths, piano and of course Wesley’s snappy bars.

Wesley Joseph originally moved to London to study filmmaking. During this time Wesley felt that this new city life needed to be captured in songs and built a crew of collaborators including old school friend Jorja Smith. In the June of 2021, Wesley released his debut album titled ULTRAMARINE which he describes as: “crystalizing the mood of a young cohort trying to find love and live in their dreams while the world is falling apart”.

MONSOON is a futuristic-pop track infused with soulful melodies, 80's synths and guitars as well as Wesley's insitful hip-hop lyricism. The track opens with a moody synth sound that could also well be another sound in reverse. Although a minor element of the track, it adds to the futuristic ambience which almost feels nostalic. A personal favoutite bar of the track being, "I stood up in the rain staring at the face of phobia". Which is a strength everyone wishes they have at some point.
