My Sister

Lifted from her lucid and skilful debut album, the self-professed Queen of the South Shaybo once again teams up with everyone’s favourite soulstress Jorja Smith for the radiant ‘My Sister’.

During her swift and impressive rise, Shaybo has turned heads with her striking style and nuanced sound. Having gained a loyal following throughout 2020 thanks to hits like ‘Anger’, as well as her Daily Duppy bonanza, Shay hit the ground running in 2021; featuring on Jorja’s ‘Bussdown’, dropping off an excellent COLORS SHOW performance, and a run of silky singles in the run up to the album release. Accompanying the body of work is this lead single ‘My Sister’, which is supported by a grandiose and cinematic visual.

The wistful hook (is there anyone in the UK with a better hook game than Jorja btw?!) leads into Shay’s coherent, driven narrative that is silkily delivered over a sparse, afro-inspired instrumental. There is a whirlwind of emotion in the track, with defiance, heartbreak and eventually endearment flowing through the potent writing.

Two extraordinary talents, take in this gorgeous audio and visual treat from J and Shay!
