Exclusive Premiere: Amalie Bryde - Slave To My Mind

Danish-born, London-based soulstress Amalie Bryde drops her debut EP, ‘Lay Down’ on Friday 28th May, alongside video for leading track ‘Slave To My Mind’.

The singer songwriter has been building hype and a steady fan base over the past few months with the release of the pensive ‘Lay Down’, the devastating ‘Say What It Is’ and the fiery ‘NO’, all of which feature on the EP. Now, Amalie finally submerses us into her world of swooning cadence and rich texture with an EP that blends jazz, soul and R&B with ethereal ease.

The constant air of resilient eminence is apparent throughout the flowing project; whether on the emotionally potent and vulnerable ‘Colours’ or the celebratory ‘Mine’. An artist who is not afraid to challenge archetypes and societal expectations, Amalie offers individuality in the form of positivity, using her dynamic and eclectic style to uplift the listener to a state of progressive relaxation.

The focus track, and the video premiere we are featuring, is the subtly hypnotic ‘Slave To My Mind’. The self directed and edited video sees Amalie, wearing DUPPY clothing, serenading the viewer with passion, showering us in opaque and startling imagery. The measured and affecting vocal combines with the cinematic groove of the instrumental to create a dramatic yet tender soundscape. As the visual imagery becomes trippier and more ambiguous, we are treated to a distorted guitar solo and a final grandiose performance of the affecting hook.
