Singer, songwriter and producer Samm Henshaw reveals a new edition of fan-favourite single ‘Still Broke’, courtesy of trumpeter Keyon Harrold.

Keyon carried the horn solo in the original version, a tune which graced the COLORS stage and was itself a sequel to Samm’s 2018 jam ‘Broke’. Now, tempo slowed, they bring on board a full band featuring Immaneuel Wilkins, Shedrick Mitchell, Burniss Travis, Nir Felder and David ‘Howdy’ Hodek.

Samm Henshaw has described the thought-processes behind the tune:

When I wrote ‘Still Broke’ I’d just been dropped from my label and broken up with my girlfriend right around the same time. It’s a song about how you can have everything you want in the world but still feel quite empty, and how success is actually internal—which is a lesson I’d needed to learn.

This jazzy rendition is another tease ahead of Samm Henshaw’s upcoming debut album, Untidy Soul, expected anytime soon.
