Utopia PKWY

Utopia PKWY, the new project from John Beckmann of The Mortal Prophets, enter a brighter musical world with “Nothing Is Missing,” a dreamy, hypnotic single exploring grief, memory and the beauty that can exist within absence. Beckmann handles the songwriting and production, creating a colourful psychedelic soundscape packed with shimmering keyboards, warped hooks, sci fi textures, theremins and hazy melodies.

Tanner McGraw takes on lead vocals, while Lawson Mars adds backing vocals, giving the track a youthful energy and emotional openness. Beckmann describes the song as “less a song than a philosophical hallucination,” and that perfectly captures its strange, floating atmosphere.

Drawing from influences including Syd Barrett, Robert Wyatt, Cocteau Twins and Slowdive, Utopia PKWY blend post pop, synth wave and psychedelic art pop into something cinematic yet immediate. “Nothing Is Missing” is the third single from their self titled debut album, showcasing a project that feels warmer, more melodic and wonderfully unpredictable.
