It’s the latest instalment from The Silhouettes Project, and rapper Nix Northwest’s second appearance in the series. The fruit of Hackney-based creative space Root 73, The Silhouettes Project is a collaborative venture featuring over 30 artists throughout the hip hop, jazz, R&B and soul community. The full album is coming soon, released via German imprint Melting Pot Music.
‘What U Need’ sees KeepsVibesNear deliver a silky hook that lingers like the smell of Sunday roast, while Nix picks up the pace for a verse full of nostalgia and food puns. A stand-out performance comes from Purple Cloud’s production, balancing the beat’s bounce with a glistening groove.
