Glidin'

Coventry’s Pa Salieu links up with Northampton’s slowthai for the ravishingly rampageous ‘Glidin’’.

Two of the most, if not the most, striking and avant garde UK rap artists to emerge in the past 5 years, there is no stylistic or generic boundary for Pa or thai, who both consistently push the musical and visual boat out as far as it can go.

Pa’s 2020 album ‘Send Them To Coventry’ is an instant classic; offering incredible authenticity in his writing whilst combining sounds and cultures in a way few artists have attempted, let alone pulled off with such seamless success. Similarly, slowthai’s February released ‘TYRON’ was eclectic, striking and at times devastating, forcing the listener to root for his anti-hero demeanour.

The bouncy, boisterous instrumental sees Pa Salieu’s typical Afro-swing inspired drums combined with an instantly memorable synth riff. Both vocal performances are unsurprising flawless with the two artists bringing their individual style and tone. The song is accompanied by a swashbuckling visual directed by KC Locke which features dazzling colour and art design. The chemistry between the pair is brilliant and the energy is infectious.

This collaboration is an alternative rap fan’s (aka me) dream come true. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.
