HAZARD DUTY PAY

After two incredibly consistent EP’s and many great singles since his last full length LP, JPEGMAFIA shares ‘HAZARD DUTY PAY’. It’s an eclectic banger which unfortunately couldn’t make the cut for his new album due to sample clearance issues, it’s a huge shame because it might just be one of his best songs.

The energy of this new loosie is unrivalled, with its creative soul-sampling which hugely contrasts JPEG’s in your face bravado and abrasive, shouty delivery. It’s a nice disparity that makes the track very unique and one of his most remarkable yet. It would be incredible to hear in a live setting, and luckily, JPEGMAFIA is heading to the UK soon.

Visually, it follows a similar aesthetic to many JPEG videos. With amateur handheld video camera footage shaking around, JPEG raps directly to the audience as he lays his heart on his sleeve.

The ‘Veteran’ emcee has already got quite the impressive discography, after only a few years in the game. A personal favourite album is ‘All My Heroes Are All Cornballs’, with its experimental, melodic direction that has spawned many fan favourites.
