Introvert Hotline

Ego Ella May returns with another sumptuous slice of jazz-infused neo-soul with her latest offering Introvert Hotline.

The last few years have proved fruitfully prolific for the South London soulstress, having released two full length projects, 2019’s So Far and 2020’s Honey For Wounds, the gorgeous 2021 EP FIELDNOTES, and collaborated with household names such as Blue Lab Beats and Emmavie. With Introvert Hotline, Ella returns with her first single of the New Year, proceeding in her stylistic refinement with one of her strongest efforts to date. Groove-laden bass, silky keys and snappy drums act as the palette for Ella’s empowering narrative as she avoids the call of her beau.

Speaking on the release, she commented:

This is a song produced by Lvther, we wrote it the first day we met. He made this beat with the telephone ringing in the beginning, and so I wrote about how much I hate when my phone rings! Typical introvert. Meeting someone new is often hard for me because I have to explain early on that I don’t really like phone calls, meaning I require a different means of communication.

The new drop comes alongside the announcement that Ella will be releasing FIELDNOTES PT II on 8th March, which will feature Introvert Hotline, as well as previous single for the both of us. Expect to hear a lot more sultry sounds from one of UK soul’s brightest sparks.
