Long Live The Wing(stop)!

Would your best mate answer the phone if you called out of the blue? Be honest.

According to new stats, over 60% of Gen Z say they would ignore an unexpected call from a friend and would rather get a text instead. In an era of voice notes, DMs and phones permanently on silent, the humble ringtone is basically a jump scare. So naturally, Deliveroo Students and Wingstop UKI have decided to turn that social fear into free food.

Enter Do Me A Flavour. A giant phone booth is landing in Manchester and Leeds, giving brave students one chance to call the mate they trust most. If that friend answers, they walk away with free Wingstop. If it goes to voicemail, no wings, no glory, just vibes and mild embarrassment.

Students in Manchester can take part on 23 February from 11.30am to 5.00pm on Oxford Road at the University of Manchester. Leeds students get their turn on 24 February from 11.30am to 5.00pm on Portland Way at Leeds Beckett University. It is first come, first served, so confidence and quick dialling are key.

YouTube favourite and Beta Squad star AJ Shabeel will be on site bringing the energy and cheering on callers as they put their friendships to the test. He has already admitted he is not even sure who he would call, because nobody answers anymore. That is exactly the point. It is a friendship gamble with flavour on the line.

Students simply sign up to Deliveroo Students for free, step up to the booth and make the call. Those who join also unlock perks including free delivery with Deliveroo Plus Silver on eligible orders and 10% off Wingstop when spending £20 or more, excluding fees.

Wingstop UKI, which has grown to 88 sites across the country since launching in 2018, is known for bold flavours and big energy. Now it is asking one simple question. Who in your group chat is actually picking up?
