RIVERSIDE APT

After eight years away, South London collective Ammi Boyz are back with ‘Riverside Apt’, and they sound like they have plenty to say. Released via Surf Gang Records, the track sees founders Nigz TG and P From Lee reconnect with the energy that earned the group cult status in the UK underground.

Produced by collective mainstay WTFOmari, aka Omari Lyseight, alongside Cleto Marez, whose credits include MIKE, Pink Siifu and Goya Gumbani, the track blends hazy production with Ammi Boyz’s effortlessly alternative rap style. There is ambition here too, with the riverside apartment becoming a playful symbol of how far they have travelled from their Deep South roots.

Formed in Lee Green in 2014, Ammi Boyz made waves with their 2018 mixtape Ab or Ammi Boyz, mixing grime, trap, hip hop and alternative sounds. With members including Omari Lyseight, T£, Master Peace and AB Husk, their return feels bigger than nostalgia. ‘Riverside Apt’ is a stylish reminder that Ammi Boyz still know how to make underground music feel exciting.
