Sick

East London lyricist Jeshi is sick; a sick MC who is sick of a lot of things. His latest single is a sinister reminder of the physical and mental tolls that come with a life of late nights raving and misbehaving.

Produced by Kelvin Krash, the instrumental is an ominous thumper as you’d expect from the A$AP Rocky, slowthai and Kasien collaborator. Now, when it comes to Jeshi’s credentials, it’s clear his artistry is continually growing, having supported slowthai, released two tracks with Celeste as well as multiple with Frank Ocean producer Vegyn.

Jeshi dedicates this tune to those afterhours mistakes we all seem to make. He says:

Sick is about the repetition in living a self-destructive life and fucking yourself up every weekend but it feels justified because you got nothing better to do and no money in your pocket. Sick of late nights and feeling like everything always goes wrong. Going round and round a lot like the ride in the video there’s no getting off.

Speaking of that music video, Jeshi is on the run from TFL after diving through the ticket barriers once again. He raps, “Still hit the corner shop for Rizla and a fuego / Still bump the train, some shit just dont change though”. The cycle of midnight sin continues. But the visuals culminate with our protagonist puking in the back of a cop car. Those repercussions come down hard.

Let's hope this track leads the way to another full project from one of the UK’s sickest artists.
