More Money

Meekz is still not far into his career and he shows no signs of losing the hunger that makes his music so great. Over a haunting beat, Meekz lets everyone know what he has, what he wants and what he needs - ‘More Money’.

The first time I heard this song I was shoulder to shoulder with thousands of other people also hearing it for the first time. It was during Meekz’s performance at Parklife Festival, in his home city of Manchester. He shouted his way through his verses, almost out of sheer excitement. Excitement for the huge crowd that came to see one of his first ever live shows. Excitement because he knew he was getting close to the song’s hook.

The hook is the root of the song’s appeal, a call-and-response earworm hauntingly echoing throughout most of the song. Meekz is talking about what he has, what he wants and what he needs. All of which is ‘more money’.

It’s catchy and urgent, Meekz's signature powerful delivery floating over the beat. Produced by Honeywood Six and Chucks, the instrumental takes a dark, winding string sample and layers it in a grand piano line and heavy trap drums. It’s nocturnal and shifts back and forth as the lyrics bounce between different pockets.
